A slower Bosnia base plan.
5 days in Sarajevo and Bosnia
Five days lets you keep Sarajevo as a base and add two or three outside days. Mix one Herzegovina route, one mountain or Ilidža day, and one Central Bosnia or museum-heavy day depending on weather.
Plan at a glance
Use Sarajevo Visit & Go listings and routes for real internal next steps instead of static claims.
Verify volatile details such as opening hours, schedules, prices, tickets and events before leaving.

Days 1–2: Sarajevo without rushing
Use the first day for Baščaršija, central streets, food and one viewpoint. Give the second to museums, Trebević or Ilidža. Keeping two city days protects the trip from weather and travel fatigue.
Day 3: Herzegovina
Mostar can anchor a focused day, with additional stops only when transport and daylight allow. A private route or organized tour suits multi-stop days better than stacking uncertain public connections.
Day 4: mountains or Central Bosnia
Choose Bjelašnica, Igman or a village route when access is suitable, or Travnik and Jajce when an actual route fits. Do not combine distant regions simply to increase the attraction count.
Day 5: keep a flexible finish
Use the last day for missed museums, shopping, food, Vrelo Bosne or a short route near your departure point. Leave enough time for luggage and the airport or station transfer.
